Dr. Johnson peered through the lens of the telescope. He could see
through the ends of the solar system and beyond with the equipment he
had at the observatory, but he wasn't looking very far. His fascination
was with a large red planet. The planet had been the center of his
attention for a few months now Not because there was something
extraordinary going on, but because the massive planet intrigued him.
Turning to his desk he wrote down a few numbers on a notepad and
returned to the telescope, "I don't care if nothing exciting ever
happens, watching this planet is enough for me." He glanced into the
telescope, watching the planet. A shadow started move over the planet,
a very big shadow.
Dr. Johnson jumped, "What the hell?" He tapped the controls of the
massive telescope, changing the trajectory trying to find the source of
the shadow. The telescope moved slightly, but enough. Through the lens
the doctor could see a massive black object moving right at him. "Oh my
God, " he said. Grabbing his notepad and a pen, he started to write
down some numbers. He then moved to his computer and started to enter
in the numbers. Staring at the screen he waited for the results. The
computer read out the results, "Based on entered data: Object will
intersect Earth orbit in 4 days, 15 hours, 22 minutes and 12 seconds."
The doctor began to sweat, "Collision probability?" he asked.
The computer paused and then replied, "Collision imminent."
"Dear God....I have to warn NASA, StarLabs, The Justice League,
somebody!" He started to panic, fumbling the phone and scattering
papers. Then gripped the phone and began dialing...
