SCENE: EMERALD DAWN III. The Hal Jordan Memorial.

As Kyle pays his respects, his ring starts to glow uncontrollably. Suddenly, a very confused Hal Jordan pops out of Kyle's ring.

That's right folks, in between issues #48 and #49 of GREEN LANTERN, as Hal headed toward Oa, he was intercepted by the renegade Guardian, Appa Ali Apsa, returned from the dead. Appa captured Hal and imprisoned him inside the ring. Appa took the form of Hal and continued onward to Oa, and revenge. After killing all who would stand in his way, Appa took of the ring and crushed it under his boot, seemingly disposing of Hal. He then absorbed the Power Battery, killing the Guardians. The shock of the tremendous power, added to Appa's own mental instability, caused him to actually think he was Hal Jordan. Which explains the "Hal type" things Parallax has done. Ganthet rebuilt the ring, but failed to rescue Hal. He gave the ring to Kyle Rayner. Ganthet merged with Parallax to battle Appa from within, but also failed. When Parallax died restarting the sun, Hal was freed from Kyle's ring.

The future. Hal returns to the remains of Oa and absorbs the excess energy. Realizing the need for a Corps, but also not wanting to return to the oppressive ways of the old Corps, Hal becomes the Last Guardian. He uses the planet Mogo as New Oa , more of a tribute to the old Guardians and the GLs of the past than a Citadel. Hal asks John Stewart to join him and be the mentor and "brains" behind the operation. As the Living Battery, Hal creates several rings and recruits new GLC members from across the galaxy. Kyle Rayner, however, chooses to stay outside the Corps. Hal assures Kyle that GLC members will not be under the strict rules the Guardians once imposed. Kyle still refuses. Hal accepts it and gives Kyle his blessing as Earth's Green Lantern. A new title, GREEN LANTERN CORPS is created, showcasing Hal and John, the Guardian GLs, and the new Corps. GREEN LANTERN remains Kyle's book.

Meanwhile, the children of the Guardians and the Zamarons have plans of their own...

That is just one of the many possible ways to bring Hal Jordan and/or the Corps back to comics. After what you've seen here on these pages, don't you think a unique and boundless concept like the Green Lantern Corps should be preserved for everyone to enjoy?

If the answer is "yes" then here's your chance to tell DC! Fill out the information in the form below and you'll be added to the GLC Petition (if your browser does not support forms, click on the picture below, or send an email to lbmgmd@epix.net. The Subject should be "GLC Petition". Only include your name and email address, and if you want, comments). Your name and email address are important if we want to make an impact on DC. They will be used for this purpose only, and seen only by myself and the DC editors. Comments are optional. Tell DC your reasons for wanting the GLC back. NO FLAMES!! That's not the way to get DC's attention. See how the petition is doing: Petition Update.

Oh, and of course, if you don't like the current direction of GREEN LANTERN, or if you're not pleased with the writing, drop the book! Believe me, I know it's hard to drop a book you've been collecting for a long time, but if you really want Hal or the Corps back, you have to hit DC where it hurts. In the wallet. Be sure to send them a snail mail letter as well, explaining why you dropped the book.

Kyle fans! The return of Hal or the Corps doesn't mean the end of Kyle Rayner, GL! The two can coexist together, as shown in the above example. So help us out and vote for the GLC!
