HISTORY:

The story of Sheriff Mardin of Nyberg was told by Arisia to Justice Leaguers Power Girl and Maya. Arisia wished to show how other women had served the Green Lantern Corps.

Sheriff Mardin first came to the attention of the Guardians of the Universe after Hal Jordan had visited Nyberg and recommended her for the Corps. Mardin's homeworld, Nyberg, was a peaceful world with humanoid inhabitants.

The Guardians asked Sheriff Mardin, a fifty year old widow, to be that world's Green Lantern. They assured her she would not be fighting space armadas of giant robots. The Sheriff rarely uses the ring, and gets quite queezy when using the ring to fly.
