HISTORY:

The story of Skr'kl was related by Reemuz to a young boy. The boy believed the yellow impurity of the power ring was a weakness that held the Green Lanterns back. Reemuz's tale was to illustrate how the weakness actually made him a better Green Lantern, as it forced him to be more resourceful.

Skr'kl was one of the Krz'zaks, a bottom dwelling race of insect-like creatures on a forest world. The Krz'zaks spend their entire lives marching from one tree to another to eat squish-berries.

Occasionally, their lives would be interrupted by the falling remains of flier exoskeletons. The fliers were a race of flying insects that were sometimes caught by the horrible Air-Clinger of Doom and devoured.

One day, Skr'kl was given the power of the Green Lantern. On their peaceful world, there was nothing for him to do. Since he was the first of his kind to be granted the power of flight, he decided he would seek and destroy the horrible Air-Clinger of Doom.

Skr'kl flew through the forest canopy and caught in the yellow webbing of the horrible Air-Clinger of Doom. His ring was useless against the yellow strands, and even less so against the horrible yellow Air-Clinger of Doom.

The Green Lantern known as Skr'kl had learned the price of overconfidence, but too late to do him any good.
