(1987)
"Worship"
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Elderly, thin, grey-skinned male humanoid
KNOWN RELATIVES: none
HISTORY:
A member of the Corps for many years, his arrival on Veltre as Green Lantern ended a millennium of civil war. In time, he came to be regarded as a god by his people.
One day, a trio of GLs came to Veltre to stabilize its planetary core. He had not seen other members of the Corps in years, and was surprised by their appearance. The Green Lantern of Veltre's mind was wandering as the three alien Green Lanterns saved his world from a peril he hadn't realized existed. Shown to be only a man, he believed he had betrayed his planet, the Green Lantern Corps, and himself.
His high priestess, Da'n had made him realize he was still important and needed by his people.

'mouse note -
This story takes place sometime after the destruction of Krypton, and after Hal Jordan resigned from the GLC in GL2 # 181. One of the rescuing Green Lanterns refers to the planet Veltre's instability as the Krypton Effect. Earlier, Jordan used "stellarium" control rods to stabilize the planet Omnicron Ceti IV, a techinque developed by Tomar-Re, but employed too late in Krypton's case.
Also of note, the Green Lantern of Veltre's surprise at seeing other members of the Corps. He had almost forgotten there were other Green Lanterns. My guess is the three Green Lanterns were sent by the Guardians of the Universe shortly before they left our dimension with the Zamarons.
The Green Lantern of Veltre's costume changed from the standard body suit, adding a pink coat and purple cape clasped by GL insignia.
